Ai, the 81-day disappearance in custody the previous secret police this year caused international uproar, has been rejected because of 15 million yuan ($ 2.36 million) in back taxes, calling the charges an attempt to squelch activism.
On Wednesday the artist and outspoken government critic, who has been ordered to stay in Beijing and refrain from giving media interviews after his release, using Twitter to condemn the Chinese authorities for their actions.
"They (the Government) had insulted the moral principles of Justice and the judiciary," Ai posted on Twitter, which is blocked in China.
"All these Nations, service men and women, have no shame to be tools of persecution of political power.
